The same point is made by Hijmans: "It is cosmic symbolism...which inspired the Church leadership in Rome to elect the southern solstice, December 25, as the birthday of Christ ... While they were aware that pagans called this day the 'birthday' of Sol Invictus, this did not concern them and it did not play any role in their choice of date for Christmas."[56] He also states that, "while the winter solstice on or around December 25 was well established in the Roman imperial calendar, there is no evidence that a religious celebration of Sol on that day antedated the celebration of Christmas"
Outro historiador Michael Alan Anderson escreve :
Both the sun and Christ were said to be born anew on December 25. But while the solar associations with the birth of Christ created powerful metaphors, the surviving evidence does not support such a direct association with the Roman solar festivals. The earliest documentary evidence for the feast of Christmas makes no mention of the coincidence with the winter solstice. Thomas Talley has shown that, although the Emperor Aurelian's dedication of a temple to the sun god in the Campus Martius (C.E. 274) probably took place on the 'Birthday of the Invincible Sun' on December 25, the cult of the sun in pagan Rome ironically did not celebrate the winter solstice nor any of the other quarter-tense days, as one might expect. The origins of Christmas, then, may not be expressly rooted in the Roman festival

semana € 175,00.
€ 700,00 (Salário mensal)
dividido por 4 (semanas do mês)
= € 175,00 (Salário semanal)
Ok? Nem tanto.
Vejamos o seguinte:
Ah, detalhe!!

recebi a seguinte resposta:
The information is originally from the Mishnah Sheq 7:4, a rabbinic Jewish legal-historical document from the end of the second century AD. Shepherds were not normally in the fields with sheep past autumn so those mentioned in Luke 2 were sheep destined to become burnt offerings, peace offerings and for the Passover offering for the temple service in Jerusalem. These temple sheep were kept not far from Jerusalem including Bethlehem which is only about five miles to the south.
It is discussed more in The Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah, by Alfred Edersheim, pp. 132–133). Alfred Edersheim's book is available through http://www.amazon.com/The-Life-Times-Jesus-Messiah/dp/0943575834 which notes that besides regular books, it's also on kindles at under $3.00.
I have not looked for it tonight as I am very tired but know that I had also read long ago that the sheep being outdoors even in the winter months did not harm the temple sheep because they had extra heavy wool. You may want to surf for more about them, and when I feel better I know I will as this is interesting.
MISHNAH 4. IF CATTLE WAS FOUND IN JERUSALEM AS FAR AS MIGDAL EDER,24
AND WITHIN A LIKE DISTANCE ON ANY SIDE [OF JERUSALEM], MALES [MUST BE

recebi a seguinte resposta:

This is in particular to explain some reasons for the December 25 date for Christmas, also for why sheep may have been outdoors then, etc. For example, there is this quote from a Hebrew-to-English translation by R. Jehudah of the Jewish “Shek 7:4,” which is short for Shekelim and also abbreviated by some as Skeq:
“Cattle (Livestock and sheep in particular) found all the way from Jerusalem to Migdal Eder, and in the same vicinity in all directions, are considered, if male, as whole-offerings, and if female as peace-offerings.”(Babylonian Tamud, Book 2: Tracts Erubin, Shekalim, Rosh Hashana) (Other free copies of Jewish writings are at http://www.sacred-texts.com/jud/t02/shk11.htm; see item D there.
Continuing, Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, says of Migdal Eder:
Migdal Eder, literally, "Tower of Eder" in Hebrew, is a tower mentioned in the biblical book of Genesis 35:21, in the context of the death of Jacob's wife, Rachel. The biblical record locates it near the present-day city of Bethlehem.
So Rachel died, and she was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem), and Jacob set up a pillar at her grave; it is the pillar of Rachel's tomb, which is there to this day. Israel [Jacob] journeyed on, and pitched his tent beyond the tower of Eder. (Gen 35:19-21 NRSV)
Many have attempted to identify the exact location of the tower, but early sources differ on the location.[1]
Connection to the Birth of the Jewish Messiah[edit]
Scholars interpret Micah 4:8 as a prophesy indicating that the Messiah would be revealed from the "tower of the flock" (Migdal Eder) which is connected with the town of Bethlehem, southeast of Jerusalem.[2]
And you, O tower of the flock, hill of daughter Zion, to you it shall come, the former dominion shall come, the sovereignty of daughter Jerusalem. (Micah 4:8 NRSV)
But you, O Bethlehem of Ephrathah, who are one of the little clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to rule in Israel, whose origin is from of old, from ancient days. Therefore he shall give them up until the time when she who is in labour has brought forth; then the rest of his kindred shall return to the people of Israel. And he shall stand and feed his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they shall live secure, for now he shall be great to the ends of the earth; and he shall be the one of peace (Micah 5:2-5 NRSV)
Mishnaic sources indicate that the flocks tended in the fields around Bethlehem were raised for the ritual sacrifices of the Jerusalem temple.[3] This fact has contributed to the Christian doctrine that Jesus of Nazareth, who was regarded in the Christian scriptures as the "lamb of God" (Jn 1:29) and whose death is regarded in Christianity to have sacrificial implications for the sins of the world (1 Cor 5:7; 1 Pt 1:19; Rev 5:6-13), is the Messiah.[1][4][5]

A common question is if the December 25 date for Christ’s birth is correct, then why were the shepherds out in the fields at night in the coldest season of the year, for even in Israel during the winter it occasionally snows. Most know the Christian Bible says that sacrificial, temple sheep were to be without any “blemish,” meaning of highest quality, and priests usually ate their meat. High quality sheep are known not only for nutrition but also for high quality wool. It’s also a fact that wool keeps people and animals extra warm.
So such sheep being outdoors did them no harm and was good for them rather than keeping them indoors all the time. Since their wool was possibly thicker and faster growing than for regular sheep, taking them outdoors at least at times would have kept them from staying hot, which would have made them less healthy. In turn their being outdoors meant that shepherds were needed to guard them.
Concerning the December 25 date itself, Andrew McGowan says in Biblical Archaeology Review in 2013, that there are problems with the commonly stated and spread idea that the December 25 date came from the Roman Saturnalia or yule celebrations by pagans in northern Europe. Although in 274 C.E. the emperor Aurelian had set up the feast of Sol Invictus (the Unconquered Sun) on December 25:
“It is not found in any ancient Christian writings, for one thing. Christian authors of the time do note a connection between the solstice and Jesus’ birth: The church father Ambrose (c. 339–397), for example, described Christ as the true sun, who outshone the fallen gods of the old order. But early Christian writers never hint at any recent calendrical engineering; they clearly don’t think the date was chosen by the church. Rather they see the coincidence as a providential sign, as natural proof that God had selected Jesus over the false pagan gods. It’s not until the 12th century that we find the first suggestion that Jesus’ birth celebration was deliberately set at the time of pagan feasts.”
Further, ”…..Most significantly, the first mention of a date for Christmas (c. 200) and the earliest celebrations that we know about (c. 250–300) come in a period when Christians were not borrowing heavily from pagan traditions of such an obvious character.”
McGowen adds that another way to account for the December 25 date is that for example “Around 200 C.E. Tertullian of Carthage reported the calculation that the 14th of Nisan (the day of the crucifixion according to the Gospel of John) in the year Jesus died was equivalent to March 25 in the Roman (solar) calendar. March 25 is, of course, nine months before December 25; it was later recognized as the Feast of the Annunciation—the commemoration of Jesus’ conception. Thus, Jesus was believed to have been conceived and crucified on the same day of the year. Exactly nine months later, Jesus was born, on December 25.”
McGowan says many other things then concludes “In the end we are left with a question: How did December 25 become Christmas? We cannot be entirely sure. Elements of the festival that developed from the fourth century until modern times may well derive from pagan traditions. Yet the actual date might really derive more from Judaism—from Jesus’ death at Passover, and from the rabbinic notion that great things might be expected, again and again, at the same time of the year—than from paganism.”
As noted at the outset, this in particular has been to explain some reasons for the December 25 date for Christmas (there definitely are others), also for telling why sheep may have been outdoors then, etc. Some groups such as the Watchtower Society dictating beliefs to Jehovah’s Witnesses have attacked the traditional date observed by western Christians some 2,000 years now – most eastern Orthodox believers opting for January. Such attacks on Christ’s birthday, have made it necessary to here present some of the defensive points of support, and hopefully this has proved helpful toward that end.
